As a botanical watercolor artist, my garden directly inspires my work.
I paint what I grow and grow what I want to paint. I delight in capturing the colors, textures, details and the spirit of flowers and plants with paint and my brush.
But my garden is also a constant source of joy.
And I love sharing the joy with you.
Come take a look around!
I live in southwest Wisconsin, Hardiness Zone 5a, where the winters are long and often snowy. My fenced-in backyard measures about 55 feet wide and 39 feet deep and was a blank slate for my creativity when I began gardening here in the spring of 2014.
before:
Over the years we’ve removed a tree, a shed, some bushes and nearly all of the grass, adding raised beds, paths and patios.
My garden is a source of inspiration and sustenance, but it’s also my sanctuary. I’m more mindful in my garden, attuned and connected to nature. All of my senses are aware and awake.
My garden is an extension of my studio. It features in my blog and the Joy Letters I send out to subscribers twice a month. It also appears in many of my classes and my YouTube videos. And I’m now sharing it over on Substack, too.

My peach and cherry trees are filled with flowers. Daffodils are blooming and everywhere I look outside, spring is progressing.
