Work with me
I delight in creating special art for my customers. Whether you’re looking for just the right piece for your home or are thinking of creating a gift for a loved one, I can work with you to create just what you have in mind. I’m also available for licensing and special projects (contact me using the form below).
I look at commissions as collaborations and I’ll work with you to create a painting that brings you joy, inviting you to participate in the process with me.
To get started with private commissions:
I’ll start by asking you questions about the piece you have in mind. I’ll need to know:
What botanical subject, flower(s) or plant(s) you envision (if you have a specific variety in mind, it helps if you have a photo)
Size of the finished piece
Colors
Intricacy (ex. a stem with a single flower, a layout of five types of herbs, a stem with seven flowers, etc.)
All of these aspects will come into the price for the finished piece. Commissions generally start at $300 for a small, simple design and increase with size and complexity. I’ll give you an estimate range before beginning work on the project.
Once your painting is finished I will carefully wrap it and send it to you. Local pickup is also available.
Because of the cost and complication of shipping framed art, most commissioned paintings are sent unframed. If you’d prefer a framed piece, we can discuss what you have in mind and the costs for framing and shipping framed art.
What customers are saying:
“Anne, it was so great to work with you… I look at your images daily… and love them!” — M.S.
“Absolutely beautiful! I’m excited!” — R.S.
“It’s so perfect. They’re going to love it. Thank you so much.” — K.F.
“Oh my goodness it's perfect. Truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love it.” — M. P.
The process:
After our initial conversation (usually done over email), I’ll clarify your ideas:
If you did not send me photos of botanical varieties, I may start by sending you photos to make sure I know which specific variety you have in mind.
I’ll work on sketches and send you photos of rough sketches of layouts and designs for you to choose from.
I’ll mix paint and send you photos of swatches to give you an idea of which colors I have in mind.
If at this point my rough sketches and colors aren’t what you have in mind, I’ll ask for your suggestions for changes and send revised sketches and color mixes. Repeated revisions may push the finished price to the higher end of the initial estimated range.
Once we’ve decided on a finalized layout and colors, I’ll begin painting. Depending on the scope of the project, I may require a deposit at this point.
I may share process photos with you if the piece is large and/or intricate and will take a lot of time.
When the piece is finished I will send a photo for your approval.
I invite your input throughout the process. If at any time the painting is straying from your vision, let me know and I’ll work with you to take it back in the right direction.
