Now
Right now I don’t have the energy or the brain space to write the post I wanted to for today. So I’ll just check in with you. See how you’re doing. Tell you I’m doing fine. Send some words of encouragement your way.
I’ve been focused on putting together a new Skillshare class (with a little help from my studio mate).
It’s a spring themed sketchbook class and although it isn’t turning out the way I had imagined it, I think it’s just right for what’s going on right now. Spring is unpredictable. Life is unpredictable. It’s important to look for joy and inspiration (or create your own!) no matter your circumstances.
Last weekend, before I began to dig into editing my new class, I cleaned up my studio (filming always creates a lot of chaos!) and randomly decided to rearrange a bit of furniture.
It’s truly amazing how energizing it is to clean, organize and rearrange your space. I have a bit more fine-tuning to do, but it will have to wait till I finish my class.
Our weather has been all over the place, but it’s meant that I’ve spotted a few rainbows this week, including this one, photographed through the rain-blurred upstairs bathroom window.
Rainbows never fail to bring me joy.
Nor do all the signs of spring, slowly emerging everywhere I look.
I hope you are well. That you are hanging in there. Doing what you need to do for yourself in these very strange (and scary and stressful) times.
Mary Oliver’s poem “Invitation” from her book A Thousand Mornings has been on my mind and then this quote from it jumped out at me the other day while looking through Bella Grace Magazine.
Go read the poem. Carry it with you. And when you catch a bit of birdsong, stop and listen.
Take good care, my friend.
