Daffodils Crochet Pattern
Daffodils Crochet Pattern
This pattern demonstrates a simple technique for crocheting a basic daffodil flower. It also teaches how to modify the basic flower for different looks. By changing the size and shape of the trumpet; the size, shape and even number of the petals and by combining those variations with variations in color and material, a nearly limitless number of daffodil designs is possible!
It’s so much fun to use the finished daffodils. Small flowers can be made to adorn hairpins and necklaces (like my necklace featured in Issue 16 of Simply Crochet magazine and displayed in the first photo and the photo collage above). Larger daffodils can be attached to pin backs to make brooches or attached to hats, purses, or sweaters. Made from wool yarn daffodils can even be felted! Your imagination is the limit.
Although this pattern is not specifically a jewelry pattern, it does give suggestions for how to create your own daffodil necklaces and explains how I made my daffodil necklaces, providing a link to the tutorial to create the "chains" on which the daffodils are hung.
This pattern is an 8 page, downloadable PDF with many step-by-step photographs and hints, tips and suggestions for modifications throughout.
Skills needed: chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, double triple crochet (taller stitches and in-between stitches can also be used if desired)
Although it is not complicated, this pattern may be a bit difficult for a beginning crocheter.
I use standard American crochet terms.
Materials: nearly any yarn or crochet thread, crochet hook to coordinate
